Black History Month

Black History Month is an annual celebration of the present-day and historical achievements of Black and African American individuals, communities, organizations, and groups.

Black History Month offers a time to focus on the central role that Black and African Americans have played within the U.S.-a tradition started in 1915 by Carter G. Woodson, half a century after the Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery.
