Hi, my name is Max Toubes! I am 24 years old and was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I am an advocate for social justice and policy reform and am excited for the opportunity to work towards increasing corporate equity and diversity. I am also a published author, poet, and aspiring screenwriter, focusing primarily on animated/children’s television. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and playing the guitar. I received my BA in Anthropology from California State University, Long Beach in 2022.

Hello! My name is Adrian Lugo, I am the DEI & Anthropology Intern at Willing Observers. As a first year Graduate Student at California University Long Beach, I am always exploring new and exciting ideas with the field of Anthropology. My research interests include digital ethnography, video games, and identity. In my free time I like to play video games, watch movies, and when inspiration hits, creative writing. Post MA, I’d like to pursue DEI work to help advocate for the rights of marginalized people both in and out of the workplace.

Hi, my name is Steven Wong (He/Him) and I am currently a Masters Student at CSULB. A current Equity Scholar and former Sally Casanova Scholar, my research is focused on the intersection of Cultural Resource Management and DEI. My work for Willing Observers is often focused on Anthropological theory and how it applies to American culture and on the sociocultural construction of Race.

Hello! I am currently a Project Manager for Willing Observers and I coordinate and manage our social media accounts, assist with content creation, graphic design, and research for various projects, as well as help to coordinate workflow. I graduated from California State University, Long Beach in May of 2023 with my Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology with a focus on cultural anthropology and an emphasis in gender, identity, and intersectionality, as well as LGBTQAI2S+ issues. In my spare time I like to read, watch movies, hike, and bake. I am passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and use these principals as a foundation in my work and research.
